This thesis collection explores my complex relationship with sugar, using fashion to explore the conflicting emotions it evokes. Childhood memories of sweets and the story of Hansel and Gretel serve as the starting point of this collection, focusing on the conflict of pleasure and restriction associated with sweetness. Inspired by Hussein Chalayan’s Gravity Fatigue and the unsettling cake sculptures of Vincent Olinet, the collection uses textures, layering, print, and color contrasts to show my rebellion and satisfaction. The designs combine exaggerated shapes, fluid and flowing silhouettes to balance whimsy and order, reflecting both chaos and calm.
